We would like to say hello in our first post in this forum.
We are sorry to be writing in English, as writing in German is difficult to us, but we can read German if not too complicated.

We are the happy owners of a Zündapp Elconamatic 3b
IMG_4937a.JPG
that came with a strange cam that is not documented in the instruction manual:

Such a device was shipping with the Spanish clones of this machine, such as Sigma 180:

but the picture there is the best we could find and the instructions are not legible.
Would any of the kind readers have any knowledge on how to use it and/or any printed material about it?

Thank you in advance

Łukasz and Ania from Wrocław, Poland

Hi Lukasz,
welcome to our forum! smile
As far as I could find out, this part is a button hole cam (german: "Knopflochkurvenscheibe", für "Knopflöcher").
It will be inserted into the machine for easy sewing of button holes.
You can see a picture of the use of the cam in this brochure, nearly at the end of the brochure:

Zündapp was working only a few years after world war II
because in former times they produced bycicles and motorbikes

it is hard to get informations or even spare parts

Danke vielmal to all of you. That was also our guess, a buttonhole cam. We know the history of Zündapp, it first came to our attention through its Soviet clones Tula, Volga and Rzhev. We were on lookout to get the cam version to our collection and were lucky to get this one, it has a real Schnurkette rather than plastic timing belt, has hook mechanics of the zig-zag version and not that of the later automatic ones, looks brand new, does not even have a speck of sewing dust inside (but someone changed the capacitors...). We hope we will not need many spare parts for this little beauty!
