Hello! Here are attached two images of the motor capacitor. I was planning to just remove the capacitor of the foot pedal. One question more: what is the meaning of the transistor (red arrow)? I am not sure if it is worth the trouble for you to send the capacitor: I have to find / build a capacitor for Pfaff 362 stopmatic also so I have to visit a capacitor shop here anyway...

the part you marked with an red arrow is no transistor but a resistance (e.g. 1 mega-ohm?)

May I answer this Question?

The resistor discharges the capacitor(s), otherwise it could happen that a rest voltage remains in the capacitor for a long time and you may get an electric Strike if you touch the Main connectors pins accidentally .

It is, in my opinion, not really dangerous only unpleasant, if this happens.
But please reinstall it, even it has no function for the Machine.
It is probably not defective. I strongly recommend to ask for help from a skilled friend.

P.S::sorry, I sent the capacitors yesterday. Keep it because Your capacitor will get defective sooner or later.
It is one of the most common failure on machines of this age.

Dieter: I am sorry, of course it is a resistance, sorry for the error...

Klaus: thank you very much for you kindness, I am most pleased to replace the old capacitor(s)... In fact I think the only thing which can break in these old German/Swiss machines prior 60´s are the capacitors :) It is a pity that today not many people know anymore what "made in Germany" used to mean.

Klaus: ich danke Ihnen sehr für Sie Güte, bin ich sehr erfreut, die alte Kondensator(en) zu ersetzen... In der Tat glaube ich, die einzige Sache, die in diesen alten Deutschen/Schweizerischen Maschinen brechen kann vor 60's sind die Kondensatoren :) Es ist schade, dass heute nicht viele Leute mehr, was "Made in Germany" in der Bedeutung.

I'm glad to hear you are happy with this machine. I own a Pfaff260 and if I had to give away all my machines I probably would keep this one, even if it is not the prettiest one. The Pfaff 130 might be better in some aspects but in my opinion the 260 has a way better handling.

I hope You will follow us a while and please send a picture of Your machine and of something you made with it, if You have.

in Schweden gibt es SEMCO-Bestimmungen
in Norwegen gibt es NEMCO-Bestimmungen

es dürfen keine unisolierte anschlüße verbaut werden

in Norway they have NEMCO-rules

you must not assemble electric parts without insulation

I admit I am not an electrican. I would like to understand a little more about electric circuits to fix minor problems like capasitors. I allways use residual current protection when testing machines after fixing any electrical components. As the machines are a hobby and will be used only by me It is not important to meet all the legal stuff. Of course it is important that the machines are 100% safe to use.

Ich gebe zu, ich bin nicht ein Elektriker. Ich möchte ein wenig mehr über elektrische Schaltungen zu verstehen, um kleinere Probleme wie capasitors beheben. Ich durchweg Fehlerstromschutz bei der Prüfung von Maschinen nach der Fixierung keine elektrischen Komponenten. Da die Maschinen sind ein Hobby und wird nur verwendet, von mir Es ist nicht wichtig, alle rechtlichen Dinge erfüllen. Selbstverständlich ist es wichtig, dass die Maschinen sind zu 100% sicher.

Klaus, the capasitors arrived today, thank you very much for your kindness. I will post some pictures after the installation (may be after christmas). The original capacitor had only two wires, the new one has three, I assume the green/yellow is the ground wire as it is here in Finland...

Klaus, die Kondensatoren kam heute, ich danke Ihnen sehr für Ihre Freundlichkeit. Ich werde ein paar Bilder nach der Installation veröffentlichen (kann nach Weihnachten sein). Die ursprüngliche Kondensator hatte nur zwei Drähte, die neue hat drei, ich nehme an, das grün / gelb ist das Erdungskabel, wie es hier in Finnland...
